Downtown Austin Surprise Wedding

When Angela first reached out to me to help with her wedding flowers, I knew immediately I was going to love her. When you can tell in an email just how kind, gracious and insanely excited someone is to marry the love of their life, you know your only response to helping with their wedding is “yes.”

Angela and Chris were so excited to share the joy of their union that they decided to host a surprise wedding in downtown Austin at The Eleanor. To be honest, I’ve never seen a surprise wedding and at first, did not quite understand the notion behind it but then I saw pictures of the guests when they realized they were at a wedding and it all came together. The genuine surprise, excitement and overwhelming joy on the faces of each of the guests was so evident. And it wasn’t just the excitement of a wedding, it was THIS wedding, THIS couple. They are the kind of people whose joy and love overflows and spreads to everyone they meet.

A HUGE HUGE thank you to Kelsey Horner Photography for capturing so perfectly the genuine love and emotion of this day. And a huge thank you to Brittany and Chris for sharing your love and spreading your joy to each of us.

Brittany and Matt’s Hill Country elopement at Lucky Arrow Retreat was one of those perfect Texas evenings where the air is warm, the sun is shining and the sky is clear for miles. The day certainly didn’t start this way, in fact, there were severe storms nearly all day. The type of storms that cause low water crossings to flood, separating vendors from the venue for a short while as we waited for water to recede. Luckily, it did just that. Despite the delay, the water eventually receded, the skies cleared and the evening went on without a hitch, except, of course, for the one intended.

Brittany and Matt chose the newly opened Lucky Arrow Retreat for their intimate elopement. The venue not only has one of the most breathtaking views which doubles as an outdoor ceremony space, but it also has a host of warm, inviting cabins to call your home away from home.

The elopement was coordinated by the lovely Jazmin of Events by Leslie. A kind and talented lady who I’ve had the pleasure to work with on numerous occasions. Leslie is 100% committed to her clients and the vendors she works with. She was one of the first planners I was introduced to here in Texas and I was so grateful to work alongside her again for Brittany and Matt’s big day. PS: Jazmin was an event lead in Oregon (my home) prior to coming to Texas, so PNW was representing!

Of course, we would not be able to share the beauty and joy of this elopement without someone to capture all the intimate details. Matt and Brittany hired the insanely talented, Nikk Nguyen Photo. Nikk describes his photos as evoking “emotion, awe and inspiration” and I couldn’t have come up with a better description of his work. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us, Nikk!

I am so grateful for this business and the opportunities I have to work with incredible vendors and lovely couples. To Matt and Brittany, I wish you both all the best as you start this new adventure together. May the luck & love of your wedding day be with you always.
